Feeling Financially Peaceful

We are now the proud new owners of a 2001 Honda Accord! We went up to North Houston this afternoon after church and dropped $5500 big ones in cash and drove our "new" 133,001 mile car home. We now have no car payment and we are one step closer to having financial peace! The plan is that we save while we own this car and then we buy a slightly nicer junker two years later and do that every few years until we can afford to pay cash for our dream car.

I was driving down the road on our way home daydreaming about the day when we will walk into a dealership with cash (or cashiers check if we're not feeling brave) in-hand and pay cash for a quadruple cab, bed the length of a slip-n-slide, leather air-condition seated, Ram-boxed, trimmed in gold Dodge Ram! But until then we will be very grateful that we could afford to pay cash for what we got, a very dependable, slightly worse for the wear Accord. It's NICE not having a car payment again. And it's even better that I don't have to worry about putting the first scratch on a car that we can't completely afford to own. The goal to get into the habit of paying cash for everything from here on out and start good habits that will follow us for the rest of our lives.

Only buy what we have the money to pay for...like the good ole' days :)

Troy's in the garage now cleaning it up...and honking the horn every 6 seconds while wiping it down with Leather CPR. He'd better not wake up the baby!

Overall a good Sunday afternoon. I learned a SriLankan dance from the kids of the man Troy was buying the car from and he even threw in a SriLankan key chain...hey! Very nice family, I learned something new and we drove away with a new car and feeling a little bit lighter owning our vehicles free-and-clear.

Financial Peace....here we come!
